Here we have a piece of muscle car
history. Ken Suttle of Overland Park,
Kansas bought this 1966 buick
Skylark GS new in 1966. He was in
high school and worked part time at
the local bank to pay for it. his wage
was 1.15 per hour at the time. Ken
then went back to the dealer and had
the dealer option dual quad setup
installed. This boosted the Buick to
360 hp. The 401 Nailhead engine is
mated to a 2spd automatic
transmission, with positraction.

As seen in the top left photo, dated
August 1967 he gained some fame at
Razorback Dragstrip taking home
some hefty trophies with it. The top
right photo is the car today. You see,
he still owns it, and it is an original
surviver with about 60,000 miles on
the clock. It even has the original
factory stripes!

Ken commissioned me to recreate
this gem into a 1/25th scale replica. I
started with a less then desirable
R&R resin kit, and countless hours of
prep. I pro built the Buick into what
you see here. Much scratch building
was done on the chassis and engine.
SW gauges were added to the dash,
optional wood steering wheel was
scratch built also. Shot in factory
Flame Red paint. Hand cut stripes,
vintage bias ply redlines, and a
plumbed and wired engine, are a few
of the highlights.
