THIS IS AN ORIGINAL ISSUE AMT 1962
MERCURY METEOR. KIT#K-362
AMT TOOLED THE KIT IN A 2 DR. SEDAN, WITH
THE MERCURY METEOR CUSTOM TRIM
PACKAGE. THIS KIT HAS NEVER BEEN
REISSUED. IT IS A CUSTOMER ORDER, ONE OF
MANY MERCURYS HE IS HAVING BUILT. WE
DECIDED TO GO WITH THE FACTORY COLOR
"CARNIVAL RED" I THINK DEEP DOWN THAT WE
BOTH HAD SECOND THOUGHTS ABOUT THE
COLOR. AFTER I PAINTED IT, I LOOKED AT AND
THOUGHT, THIS COLOR SUCKS!!! BUT TO LATE
NOW, IT IS A 42 YEAR OLD CLASSIC, NOT
ABOUT TO STRIP IT. i STARTED RUBBING IT
OUT AND IT STARTED TO LOOK BETTER. I
DETAILED THE INTERIOR, WITH THE CORRECT
WHITE TRIM, WASHED BLACK THROUGH THE
PLEATED PARTS OF THE SEATS TO GET THE
RIGHT SHADOWS TO SIMULATE THE
STITCHING. FOILED THE DASH AND SIDES. AMT
NEVER PUT A SHIFT LEVER OR TURN SIGNAL IN
THIS ISSUE, SO I ADDED THEM .

GETTING BACK TO THE BODY. I STUCK THE
INTERIOR IN  FOR A TEST SHOT, AND REALLY
STARTED TO SEE THIS IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT.
PUTTING THE FOIL ON TRANSFORMED THE
CARNIVAL RED, GIVING IT A UNIQUE
DEFINITION. THE CUSTOM TRIM IS PERFECT
FOR THIS COLOR. WHEN I PUT THE INTERIOR
IN IT ALL CAME TOGETHER. THIS IS THE
PERFECT COLOR FOR THIS CAR.

THE CHASSIS WAS DETAILED AND FOILED
USING MATTE ALUMINUM ON EXHAUSTS AND
BACK PAN. THEN IT WAS DULLCOATED TO
FLATTEN THE SHEEN ON THE FOIL. THERE WAS
ORIGINALLY NE TAILPIPE MOLDED IN TO THIS
ISSUE, BECAUSE IT FELL RIGHT IN LINE WITH
THE SCREW HOLE. I DRILLED INTO THE END OF
THE MUFFLER AND ADDED A TAILPIPE, MADE
TO SLIDE IN AND OUT FOR SERVICING.

THE 221CI. ENGINE WAS INSTALLED, WIRED
WITH ARROWHEAD ALUMINUM DIST. AND
WIRES. ENGINE WAS PLUMBED. ENGINE BAY
DETAILED.

I AM NOT BIG ON RED, BUT I REALLY LIKE THIS
CAR. MERCURY NICHE CAR IN THE EARLY
MIDSIZE RACE. A STEP UP FROM ITS FORD
COUSIN.
