This an older MPC kit of the legendary 1967
GTO. To start with the kit had an automatic
shift plate in the console, but had a Muncie
m-20 manual transmission. DUH! I removed
the dual gate shift plate and made the
correct 4 spd Hurst shifter in its own pod,
off set from the center of the console.
Pontiac off set the shifter to make as close
to the linkage as possible, and you could
power shift without leaning forward, so as to
have better control. I added the clutch,
brake, and parking brake pedals also. The
engine depicts the H.O. 360 hp 400 ci.
engine. woodgrain was hand painted. I tossed
the generic hollow tires and added the correct
Wide Ovals, these are from SEL. I created
the correct PMD center caps on the wheels.
The car was shot in factory correct Fathom
Blue. The engine bay was corrected with a
radiator shroud and correct top plate with the
hole for the radiator cap. Engine was plumbed
and wired. Everything was detailed inside and
out with Bare Metal Foil. There are more
pictures below.
