It was 1964 and the birth of the midsize
muscle car. Pontiac was having great
success with the GTO. Over at the Olds
division they were racing to get their
own muscle car ready. It was only 3
months before the 1965 models were
due out when The 1964 Olds F-85
Cutlass 442 was born. An F-85 with an
ultra high compression 330, 4bbl,
4spd, posi traction strapped to a very
heavy duty suspension. With the special
dual snorkle air cleaner it was rated at
310 hp. This order code was #BO9. Only
2,999 F-85 442's were made in 1964,
but it sparked a whole 442 brigade for
years to come.

This is a very rare collector. I started
with the original issue AMT 1964
Oldsmobile F-85 Cutlass kit# 5024 that
has never been re issued.  This kit is
almost 45 years old.  No kit or promo
was made  of the 64 442. This is
another one of a kind build. I did not
use the simple one piece chassis from
the kit.
Instead I grafted wheel wells onto a
detailed heavy duty suspension. I then
put a 330 ci. in engine, scratch built a
dual snorkle air cleaner, with insert,
then Plumbed and wired. Nice detail
under the hood with a photo etched
radiator cap. There are many metal
photo etched parts on this build, such
as interior dash knobs, inside door
pulls, window cranks, ashtrays, and
more. On the exterior, the door and
trunk locks, and the 442 emblems are
photo etched and painted with the
classic red to orange to amber fade
out.. The car is Bare Metal Foiled and
has vintage AMT Firestone Supremes.
The interior has separate  parking
brake, brake, and clutch pedals were
added, along with carpet, 4spd,
buckets, tach, and more.
Vintage Minnesota plates.
