GONZO'S PRO BUILT
ORIGINAL ISSUE AMT 1960 MERCURY PARKLANE
CONVERTIBLE
Here we have an original issue AMT 1960
Mercury Parklane convertible kit # 33360.  I
built this using the factory color Signal
Red. The interior is completely detailed with
Bare Metal Foil.  Shift  and signal levers
were added as these were not offered in
this original kit.

The exterior was air brushed, and clear
coated in lacquer, and hand rubbed to a
mirror shine. All detail was foiled. Grill
and back bumper insert were black washed
for realism. Continental kit was an orginal
issue item.

The chassis was detailed and airbrushed to
depict the factory overspray process. The
exhaust tips are scratch built from
aluminum.

As a kid I liked the 58 & 59 Mercurys, but I
think the 60 was my favorite, as it ushered in
a totally new body style. To me it was the
perfect car for the 50's early 60's cruiser
look. You can almost here the hollywood
mufflers, or cherrybombs, if you choose,
rapping off as you throw it into low gear
coming to a stop light. "WLS"A M  out of
Chicago, blasting on the  radio. Ahh, those
were the days!
