| ONLY AT GONZO'S 1957 THUNDERBIRD 1/25TH SCALE PRO BUILT "WILLOW GREEN" |
| This is a pro built 1957 Thunderbird. I built this car from an AMT kit. Many of the original trophy series parts were included in this newer issue kit. The 40+ year tooling is still in good condition. I airbrushed this one in willow green lacquer, and clearcoated it. This was a factory color in 1957. The interior was done in willow and cumberland green. This was my favorite year for the Tbird, and also the last year of the two seater. Also new for 1957 was the non porthole detachable roof, as this car depicts. They did still offer the porthole roof also. Looking at this car from the front with the top on, I see a 1956 Lincoln Mk2 design influence. I foiled this car in all the right places, right down to the door and trunk locks. The interior is nicely detailed. The exterior is completely detailed. I had to install some spacers behind the tailights, as they sat to far in, and were not correct. This kit did not offer inside, or outside rear view mirrors, I added them from a 60 Ford. The engine bay shows nice detail, and the 312ci. engine is wired the Arrowhead Aluminum distributor and plug wires. It has a 3 spd floor mounted shifter. The chassis is is also done, and was oversprayed to depict the factory painting process. Tires are Firestone with period correct wide whitewalls. The hand rubbed exterior also sports a Scale Repro aluminum radio antenna. The license plates a correct Minnesota 1957 issue. This beauty is currently at Ebay auction till 6-7-06 click on my store at the top of the page if you would like to bid on it. |
